The guests had finally cleared out, leaving the grand hall in a heavy, ringing silence.
The air was thick with the scent of expensive tobacco and the lingering tension of the evening.
Aahana sat on the main sofa, flanked by Avantika and Vedika, while Shaurya and Advait occupied the opposite side.
Agastya sat alone on a single leather sofa, the orange cherry of his cigar glowing in the dim light.
He hadn't said a word, his blue eyes tracking the way the light hit Aahanaâs face.
"Agastya, listen to me. Youâre looking at the most dangerous weapon in this country." Shaurya gestured toward Aahana, his voice full of a strange mix of pride and caution. "Since the day she stepped into a courtroom, she hasn't lost a single fucking case. Not one. If sheâs on your side, the law doesn't existâshe is the law."
"Sahi mein. She doesn't just win cases, she destroys the opposition." Advait leaned forward, his eyes locked on Agastya. "Aahana, we want you to take Agastyaâs case. Itâs complicated, and youâre the only one who can handle this shit."
Aahana, who had been leaning back comfortably, suddenly froze. The glass in her hand is still.
"Oh hell no. Iâm not interested." Her voice was like ice, cutting through the warmth of the room. "Find someone else for your dirty work."
"Wait, Aahana, just listen. You got to be fucking kidding me, youâre turning it down before even hearing the details?" Shaurya exchanged a look with Advait. "Name your price. Whatever the fuck you want. Agastya will pay any amount you ask. Blank check, Aahana. Just say the word."
The moment the words left Shauryaâs mouth, the temperature in the room seemed to drop to sub-zero.
Avantika and Vedika froze, their faces turning pale. They knew what was coming.
"Shaurya..." Aahana spoke in a voice so calm, so quiet, that it made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. "Do you really think you can sit in your Chief Ministerâs chair and buy me? You think your money is enough to make me your puppet?"
Shaurya, the man who ran the state, felt a cold shiver go down his spine. He froze, unable to find his voice.
Advait and the women looked at each other in sheer terror. They had crossed a line.
"Aahana, sorry... fuck, we didn't mean it like that. Sorry, Weâre just desperate." Advaitâs voice is pleading now. "Please, just consider it. Itâs a request, not a deal."
"I would rather die before I take a case for a man like him." Aahana stood up, her black eyes flashing with a dangerous fire as she finally turned her gaze toward Agastya. "I know exactly who you are, Agastya Singh Rana. A pathetic criminal. A man who runs a mafia empire built on blood and fear. You think because my friends are your friends, Iâll defend your filth? Fuck off for Godâs sake."
The room was paralyzed. No one had ever dared to call Agastya a "pathetic criminal" to his face. But Agastya didn't move. He didn't roar.
He simply sat there, amused, a dark smirk playing on his lips as he watched her fire.
"Aahana, fucking stop already! Itâs not about the mafia stuff." Shaurya shouted, his voice cracking with the weight of the secret. "Heâs been charged for a rape case, Aahana. Thatâs why we need you!"
Aahana froze.
Her entire body went rigid. For a few seconds, she didn't even breathe. Then, she exploded.
"What?! You got to be fucking kidding me!" She screamed, her voice echoing off the high ceilings.
She turned on Agastya, her eyes filled with pure loathing. "A rape case? Oh, fuck no! Being the monster you are, Iâm sure you did it! Youâre not just a criminal, youâre a predator. I wonât defend you... Iâll fucking destroy you myself! Iâll make sure you rot in a cell for the rest of your miserable life!"
"Aahana, SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Shaurya yelled, standing up to face her. "He is innocent! Agastya didn't do it! It's a setup, and if you don't help him, theyâll kill him!"
"He's right, Aahana! For fuck's sake, stop judging for one second!" Advait roared over her. "Agastya is many things, but he's not that. He's innocent, and youâre the only one who can prove it!"
The air in the room became heavy, a suffocating pressure that made it hard to breathe. The grand hall, once filled with the echoes of Shauryaâs shouting, was now deathly silent.
Agastya stepped forward, his silhouette towering over her, until they were standing face to face.
Their bodies were so close that the heat radiating from him felt like a physical burn. He didn't look angry; he looked predatory.
"Tumhe galatfehmi hui hai, Aahana Kashyap." Agastyaâs voice was a low, terrifyingly calm vibration that seemed to crawl under her skin, making a shiver run down her spine. "Maine tumse pucha nahi tha. Maine tumhe order diya hai. Kal subah tum mere office aa rahi ho, aur mera case file handle kar rahi ho. Mere liye 'nahin' ka koi matlab nahi hota."
Aahanaâs blood boiled. Her vision blurred with a searing, white-hot rage. No oneâno king, no minister, no godâhad ever dared to talk to her with such cold authority. Her hand moved before her brain could even process the impulse.
CRACK!
The sound of the slap was like a gunshot in the hollow hall. Aahanaâs palm stung, and Agastyaâs head snapped to the side.
The silence in the hall was so heavy it felt like the walls were closing in.
Shaurya and Advait stood paralyzed, their breath hitched in their throats, while Avantika and Vedika trembled, convinced they were witnessing Aahanaâs final moments.
Nobodyâabsolutely nobodyâhad ever laid a finger on Agastya Singh Rana and walked away.
Agastyaâs head was still turned from the force of the slap. A dark, crimson mark began to bloom on his jaw, but he didn't flinch.
Slowly, with a terrifying, predatory grace, he turned his face back to her. His blue eyes weren't just angry; they were consumed by a dark, swirling obsession.
He stepped forward, forcing Aahana to stand her ground as he closed the distance until there was no air left between them.
Her breasts pressed against his solid chest, the heat of his body seeping through her black dress.
Aahanaâs heart was drumming a frantic, wild rhythm against her ribs, but she refused to look away.
Then, Agastya reached out. His touch was unexpectedly light, almost reverent, as he caught a few strands of her hip-length hair between his fingers. He held them like they were a fragile lifeline.
He leaned in, burying his face in the curve of her neck, inhaling her scent as if he were drowning and she was his only source of oxygen.
"Gussa bohot hai tumhare andar... Vakil Sahiba." His voice was a low, velvet growl that vibrated against her skin, sending a violent shiver racing down her spine.
It wasn't a request. It was an acknowledgment of a predator finding his match. "Maine kaha tha na... tum mera case handle kar rahi ho. Aur ab, tum mujhe mana nahi kar paogi."
Aahana felt her world tilting. Her brain was screaming at her to shove him away, to scream, to maintain her dignityâbut for the first time in her life, her body betrayed her.
Her pulse was skyrocketing, and a treacherous warmth was spreading through her veins. She stood frozen, locked in his shadow, hating the fact that she didn't want to move an inch.
"Oh fuck... what the fuck is happening?" Shaurya whispered, his voice barely audible.
He looked at Advait, whose mouth was hanging open in pure, unadulterated shock. They were watching two monsters collide, and for once, neither of them knew who would come out alive.
"Baby, dekho..." Avantika clutched Shauryaâs arm, her voice shaking. "Yeh dono... yeh mumkin hi nahi hai."
Agastya didn't care about the onlookers. He remained there, his face hidden in her hair, his senses completely occupied by her.
He didn't touch her body, only those strands of hair, yet the intimacy of the moment was more suffocating than any embrace.
Aahanaâs eyes were wide, staring at nothing as she fought the war inside herself.
She despised menâespecially men like himâyet her heart was whispering a truth she wasn't ready to face. She didn't push him. She didn't pull back.
She just stood there, breathing in the scent of whiskey and expensive cigars that clung to him.
The "Destruction of Justice" and the "Mafia King" stood entwined in a silent, burning stalemate.
Two people who didn't have the word 'love' in their vocabulary had just discovered a language far more dangerous.
